DUCT CLEANING
Here in Northern Colorado, in today’s air-tight homes, Indoor Air Quality is a growing concern. Household dust may contain dust mites, mold, mildew, pollen, and animal dander. Many of these contaminants are circulated through the central air systems in the home and office which aggravate the symptoms of asthma and allergies. Check out our duct cleaning services.
How do we remove these contaminants from the duct system?
Our professionals have combined their proven techniques with our Point-of-Contact air duct cleaning system. This advanced cleaning system is the only one available that brushes and vacuums at the point of contact. You are left with the assurance of fresh, clean and virtually contaminant-free air in your home and office. Best of all, you can see how your air vents look before and after on our camera to know they are clean. (Once we take the vents off, many homeowners don’t want to look when we approach with a picture. “Ahh, just clean it, I don’t want to know what I’ve been breathing!”) We love showing off the improvements to your home’s duct system, so do not hesitate to ask us for a look.
How does it work?
We clean the register covers to remove cooking film, nicotine film and other dust-collecting substances. The air ducts are then brush vacuumed clean by running our exclusive, patented hose and brush down each duct, starting at the point furthest from the furnace, and finishing at the furnace. We access the main supply and returns, (the large runs coming in and out of the air handler.) We scrub and vacuum these also. Up to half of our time can be spent in these main lines. We deep clean the source of the air supply so that the entire system is cleaned, top to bottom.
We do not perform incomplete duct cleaning.
Occasionally, we have requests to just clean certain parts of a house and we refuse to do so. The reason is that the whole system is connected, and we cannot sign off on a job or put our Everclean Name to it if it is not done thoroughly. I have had to walk away from jobs because the contractor wanted us to cut corners to save money.
Rodent Removal
Occasionally, we get calls because there is a “dead animal” smell coming from the vents. We have a 100% success rate thus far in finding the source. In 11/2014 we got called to a house is Boulder, and discovered a large rat that died in the dryer vent. On 12/21/13 we removed a rodent from the system of a house in Windsor, but the customers had wasted money on another duct cleaning company the day before, yet they did not find anything. We were there and had the problem taken care of within an hour, removing the odor just in time for Christmas.
We have removed such critters as a hamster, chinchilla, mice (the most common), but once even had to find a cat. The homeowners in Platteville had the air return covers off to paint the walls, and the cat went down the register and got lost in the system! We were successful in retrieving their pet, two levels below where the cat entered the system.
Suggestion: Do not remove vent covers for any reason until you put you pets in a safe place. Animals such as cats, ferrets, and hamsters love to go on little adventures.
We are often asked whether new homes need to have their air ducts cleaned.
The answer really depends on whether or not the construction workers were careful to close off the air returns and vent covers while doing work such as sheetrock, sanding floors, etc. If the air conditioning or heater was running during construction, then yes you should have the air ducts cleaned. We often pull out soda cans, fast food wrappers, and have even found tools, which could have only been left by contractors during construction – decades ago.
